Brooding dark fruits fill the nose; think blackberry, satsuma plum and cassis, complemented by licorice and subtle Middle Eastern spice. The palate is dense and powerful without being heavy and the medium-bodied framework is driven by a savoury, earthy tannin profile. A wine with excellent length and persistence, notes of toasty French oak add complexity to flavours of dark chocolate and stewed cherries. It's incredibly youthful and can be enjoyed now, but will handsomely reward those with the patience to put it away for a few years.
